Food - The kitchen

Here are a sample of the many questions put to the kitchen team in the last little while.

If you have any questions of your own for the kitchen, please put them to us using the comments form.

Why are your chips sometimes soggy?
As I'm sure you're aware, we make our own chips each day at the pub and use whatever spuds are in season from our greengrocer. The type of potato, and the level of starch that it contains, will determine how it will fry up (we double-fry our chips). Sometimes the chips will come out beautifully golden and crunchy and at other times they will be somewhat more 'flacid'.
Where is your children's menu?
We don't offer a specific children's menu as we wanted to steer clear of those funny shaped dinosaurs and fish pieces. What we do offer, however, are smaller portions of some of our regular dishes. These are designated by a red 'S' on the menu and blackboard and are also great for those older folk with a slightly smaller appetite. Examples often include fish & chips, sausage and mash as well as both vegetarian options.
I'm a coeliac, what can you offer me from your menu?
There are many things on our menu of which we are able to produce a gluten-free version. Please let us know at the bar when you order and we will do the rest! Please also talk to us if you have any other food allergies.
